Murder in Prague 10: shooting in Hostivař claims one victim
An armed attack on Herbenova Street in Prague's Hostivař district claimed one life this morning. In the exchange of gunfire, a woman in her approximately fifties was killed, whilst her former partner, several years her senior, suffered serious injuries. Police arrived at the scene shortly after 10:30 a.m. following a report from the public.
Detectives are investigating the incident as a murder connected with an attempted suicide. According to initial information, the two were former family members. The woman died at the scene from gunshot wounds, whilst rescue workers managed to stabilise the man and transported him in critical condition to a trauma centre. Police assured the public on social media that there is no longer any threat to the surrounding area.
Two ambulance crews and two medical teams, including inspectors, were dispatched to the scene. One patient died before arrival at hospital, whilst the other's vital functions were successfully restored, according to rescue workers. The case is described in greater detail by České noviny.
