The appeal court has sentenced twenty-one-year-old Klára Štěpánková to five years in prison for preparing a murder. The original sentence was eight years.
Appeal court reduces sentence for woman who prepared for murder in Ústí nad Labem
The appeal court on Wednesday reduced the sentence for twenty-one-year-old Klára Štěpánková for preparing a murder from eight to five years of imprisonment. The woman was previously detained by police in a department store in the centre of Ústí nad Labem when she had a knife in her possession.
According to the court's ruling, Štěpánková wanted to commit the murder only to attract attention. This motive led to a reduction of the original sentence handed down by the court of first instance.
The case concerns the preparation of a crime, in which the accused had a cold weapon in a shopping centre. Police detained her before she could carry out the actual violent act.
