A thirty-five-year-old woman from the Plzeň region is facing murder charges after detectives established that she killed a newborn child. She hid the body in a recess in a garden in Kynšperk nad Ohří, concealing it under wooden planks.
According to investigators, the woman kept her pregnancy secret and did not visit a doctor during gestation. At the end of May, she gave birth in secret at her partner's house. After birth, she wrapped the child in a refuse sack, which she had prepared in advance, and placed it in a recess in the garden under wooden planks.
Detectives accused the woman of an exceptionally serious crime of murder. The court granted the state prosecutor's motion and decided to remand her in custody.
If convicted, she faces a prison sentence of between fifteen to twenty years, or possibly an exceptional sentence.
