A man from Stuttgart who has already passed his eighth decade of life has become the victim of a sophisticated internet fraud. The perpetrators stole approximately €230,000 in their scam.

Everything began in September 2025 when the victim registered with a cryptocurrency platform advertised online. Shortly afterwards, an alleged customer service representative called him. This person lured the pensioner with promised high returns and pressured him to transfer increasingly large sums to the supposed trading platform.

Over time, the victim transferred an estimated €230,000 to accounts belonging to the fraudsters. Only when the money disappeared without a trace did the senior realise he had been deceived. He then contacted law enforcement.

Officers are now investigating the case and have again warned of the dangers posed by dubious digital investment offers.
