Incendiary devices thrown near defence firms in Munich, two Bulgarians detained
On the night of Wednesday to Thursday, incendiary devices were thrown from a vehicle on a street in Munich where defence industry companies are based. Two suspects of Bulgarian nationality were detained at a petrol station.

Two incendiary devices were thrown from a vehicle on the night of Wednesday to Thursday on Mühldorfstrasse in eastern Munich, where several defence industry companies are based, according to ProTV News.
A spokesman for the Bavarian regional police stated to AFP that a witness alerted the authorities around midnight. One of the devices was extinguished immediately by police, whilst the other had to be defused.
On the same street is the Rohde & Schwarz group, specialising in security technologies for government and the military, as well as the local company Helsing, which develops artificial intelligence software and autonomous systems for defence. A Rohde & Schwarz spokeswoman confirmed to AFP that incendiary devices were found near the company's headquarters, stating that "the headquarters itself was not targeted". Helsing made no statement.
Two suspects were detained at a nearby petrol station: a 28-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man, both Bulgarian citizens. "We are proceeding on the assumption that there is a political context," the police spokesman emphasised, which is why the investigation was taken over by the judicial police and the Munich prosecutor's office.
German foreign minister Johann Wadephul stated at a press conference in Weimar — where he met with his French and Polish counterparts — that security services are currently operating "at maximum capacity", in the context of increasing hybrid attacks on German territory. "We can elucidate this type of case at any time," Wadephul added, citing as an example the overflight of Leipzig airport by an explosive-laden drone at the beginning of August, an incident attributed to Russia by Berlin this week.
