A 20-year-old German is alleged to have shot a man in Aalen in May. Police arrested him on Saturday in a guesthouse in Gela.

As reported by Google News CH — Crime (de), police have arrested a 20-year-old German national in Sicily. He is accused of shooting a man in the face outside a restaurant in Aalen in May of last year following an argument, seriously injuring him.
After the incident, the suspect fled and went into hiding. The Ellwangen district court subsequently issued a European arrest warrant, on the basis of which he has been sought since May.
On Saturday, police officers located the 20-year-old in a guesthouse in southern Gela. An electronic registration system for overnight guests, which in Italy mandates the transmission of guest data to the authorities, had put officers on his trail.
When police arrived, the man is said to have hidden in a light shaft of the building to escape arrest. He was nevertheless overpowered without resistance and is now in custody in Gela prison.
The prosecution accuses him of attempted manslaughter and assault causing bodily harm.
