A 31-year-old man was killed by gunfire on Monday, 14 September in the vicinity of a motorcycle spare parts shop on Avenida Isidro Ayora, in the Sauces 8 sector, northern Guayaquil, according to reporting by extra.ec.

The victim was identified as Darwin S., who had no criminal record and had been working at the establishment for a short time, according to witness testimonies collected at the scene.

According to the National Police, two individuals on a motorcycle approached the site and opened fire on the victim. Officers cordoned off the crime scene on Avenida Isidro Ayora following the attack.

"Those responsible for the incident, as well as the circumstances and possible motivations, remain under investigation by specialist units," the National Police stated.

The day after the crime, the commercial establishment briefly served clients with whom it had pending commitments, but one of its workers confirmed they would close once those services were completed.

"It will only be a little longer and then we'll leave. It's a bit frightening because you don't know what happened. Also, we haven't seen police patrols today, but we're trying to make sure everyone is safe," the person said.
