A man in his fifties was remanded in custody following the death of his partner, who was stabbed in their home in Suèvres near Blois.

Magistrates at Blois public prosecutor's office announced on Friday the imprisonment of a 50-year-old man. His wife, aged 40 and mother of their four children, died from injuries inflicted by a bladed weapon in their home located in Suèvres, in the Loir-et-Cher department.
The incident occurred between 11 and 12 June, shortly after midnight. It was the eldest of the children who alerted the authorities, reporting that her father had used a knife against her mother. When gendarmes arrived at the scene, they found the four children of the couple, whose ages ranged from four to 16 years old, hidden in a room on the first floor.
The suspect, who had been admitted to a hospital following the events, was eventually questioned whilst in provisional detention. He was brought before an investigating magistrate who upheld the charge of "murder of a spouse" before issuing a custody order.
During his statements, the man admitted that a particularly violent dispute had broken out, during which fatal injuries were inflicted with a blade. However, he claimed that his partner had initiated the confrontation and that the sharp object did not originally belong to him.
An autopsy performed on the victim's body established that death was caused by a puncture wound on the left side of the chest reaching the heart muscle, causing severe bleeding.
The investigation reveals that the couple was in the process of separating, in an atmosphere of "extreme jealousy" on the part of the suspect. The deceased was preparing to leave the marital home to move into social housing with her children.
A procedure for domestic violence had already been initiated two months earlier, following a report from child protection services. The woman had then filed a complaint mentioning both physical and psychological abuse.
Recent statistics record 107 conjugal femicides occurring in 2024, representing an 11 per cent increase compared to the previous year.
