Moroccan footballer Achraf Hakimi will appear before French justice. The Versailles Court of Appeal rejected his appeal against the rape charge, according to Nettavisen.
French authorities charged the PSG player in February. In May, he had requested the dismissal of the case, but this request was rejected.
Hakimi has consistently denied the allegations. On Friday, he published a message on X in which he expressed his desire to explain himself.
"Today, a story that is not mine is being told to the detriment of my family, my life and above all the truth," he wrote, adding that he felt he was an easy target.
The accusations against the 27-year-old Moroccan date from March 2023. A woman aged 24 at the time accused him of rape, whilst Hakimi maintains that there was only mutual kissing and embraces.
According to the prosecution, the footballer allegedly paid the woman to come to his home whilst his wife and children were on holiday. The woman subsequently went to a police station claiming she had been assaulted. She never filed a complaint herself, but the public prosecutor nonetheless opened an investigation.
Hakimi had already claimed to be a victim of an attempted blackmail scheme. He has played for Paris Saint-Germain since 2021 and previously wore the colours of Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Inter.
