A trial under high tension opened on Monday before the Paris assize court. According to Google News FR — Crime (fr), Elias Z., 36 years old, is being tried for the murder of Tiekoura K., his childhood friend, shot dead on 18 February 2022 in the Chemin Vert housing estate in Bobigny, Seine-Saint-Denis.
That evening, several gunshots rang out in the estate. Tiekoura K. is hit three times, including a bullet to the head. His brother, Foussen K., is also wounded during the shooting. A third man, Amine R., who was accompanying them, manages to flee without being hit.
After the gunfire, Elias Z. takes refuge at his home and admits to the facts to those around him before being apprehended by law enforcement. The case falls within a context of tensions surrounding a drug dealing point, against a backdrop of drug trafficking.
The accused, who was at that time an informant for the police, has admitted to opening fire. He nonetheless intends to plead self-defence, citing a state of panic and claiming he retaliated after coming under fire from the two brothers.
Father of two children and unemployed, Elias Z. had already been convicted several times for armed robbery. Le Parisien reports that he had been harbouring a growing distrust of his former friend for some time and suffered from disorders that had led to a degree of mental confusion.
