A shooting in Marseille's 3rd arrondissement killed a 20-year-old man and injured four others. An investigation for organised gang murder has been opened.

Google News FR — Crime (fr) reports that a new shooting erupted on rue d'Amiens, in the 3rd arrondissement of Marseille, shortly after midnight in the night of Saturday to Sunday, leaving one dead and four injured.
According to RTL, two men on a scooter stopped around 00h30 in front of a bar before opening fire on people present. Eight 9mm cartridge cases were found at the scene. The two-wheeler was later discovered set alight by police.
The deceased victim is a 20-year-old man, according to the Marseille fire service. Among the four injured, one has an uncertain prognosis. Another, described as "apparently a minor", fled the scene. The three other victims, aged 18 to 23, were hospitalised, two of whom in critical condition.
The Marseille prosecutor's office informed the AFP that it had opened a flagrante delicto investigation for murder, attempted organised gang murder and criminal association. The perpetrator or perpetrators were still at large on Sunday.
The shooting took place near the Cité Bel Horizon, an area known for several disputed drug dealing points. Last Tuesday, a man in his fifties had already been targeted in the same neighbourhood by two men on a scooter. Seriously wounded in the groin and arm, he had been hospitalised with an uncertain prognosis.
According to official data, narco-trafficking has caused 17 deaths in Marseille in 2025, a toll lower than in previous years. Whilst drug dealing points have declined in the northern neighbourhoods, they have increased in the city centre, notably around Gare Saint-Charles, straddling the 1st and 3rd arrondissements.
At the start of the year, Marseille's prosecutor Nicolas Bessone had mentioned "a territorial war in the 3rd arrondissement between an organisation from that arrondissement and strongly entrenched there and the hegemonic criminal organisation on Marseille which has designs on entering it", in an allusion to the DZ Mafia.
