Drug trafficking in Morlaix: Rennes Court of Appeal upholds 18-month custodial sentence
The Rennes Court of Appeal has upheld the conviction of a 26-year-old man involved in a drug trafficking network in Finistère.

Custodial prison sentence maintained for Finistère drug trafficker
The Rennes Court of Appeal upheld, on Tuesday 25 August 2026, the 18-month custodial prison sentence handed down against a 26-year-old man involved in drug trafficking operations across several municipalities in Finistère, according to Google News FR — Crime (fr).
The Brest correctional court had issued this conviction on 21 April 2026, for trafficking offences covering Morlaix, Lanmeur, Saint-Martin-des-Champs, Plounéour-Ménez, Guimaëc and Plougasnou. His brother had received a one-year custodial sentence combined with six months suspended on probation, and his brother-in-law received a sentence identical to that of the principal defendant.
Having appealed his conviction, the latter saw his sentence upheld almost entirely and was remanded in custody. Only the confiscation of seized exhibits was annulled by the court.
An investigation stemming from a burglary in Côtes-d'Armor
The case was initiated in June 2025 by a burglary that occurred in Côtes-d'Armor: the vehicle found at the scene belonged to one of the two brothers. The search of the family home in Lanmeur then made it possible to discover drugs, firearm cartridges and more than 10,000 euros concealed in the attic.
Telephone investigations and surveillance subsequently established the links between the siblings and the drug world. The three men were arrested in February 2026, then tried on an expedited basis for unauthorised transportation of drugs, illicit use and money laundering.
The principal defendant, represented by Me Yvanne Douguet, was also prosecuted for refusing to provide the codes to his mobile phone to investigators. He was acquitted on the charge of illicit drug use, but found guilty of the remaining facts alleged against him.
A person already known to the justice system
This defendant had not appeared before the courts for the first time. A few weeks after his arrest, on the very day he turned 26, he was sentenced to an additional 18 months in custody for his participation in a brawl that occurred in November 2023 at the Café de l'Aurore in Morlaix. A young plumber was seriously wounded in the arm during this incident.
