Paris court orders Kim Kardashian robbers to pay one euro in compensation
A Parisian court has awarded Kim Kardashian symbolic compensation of one euro for the 2016 robbery. The celebrity requested this amount, stating that the decision is about accountability.

A Paris court awarded one euro in compensation to Kim Kardashian on Tuesday, 15 July, for the armed robbery of which she was a victim in the French capital in October 2016, according to dn.pt citing the Associated Press.
The sum corresponds exactly to the amount the businesswoman and influencer had requested. Stylist Simone Harouche, also present on the night of the crime, likewise received one euro, as she had requested.
"The experience was deeply traumatic and its impact remains with us. Today's decision is not about compensation, but rather about accountability and recognition," Kardashian and Harouche said in a joint statement sent to the AP.
Last year, the court found eight people guilty of the crime which Kardashian described as "the most terrifying experience" of her life. Two of the thieves, disguised as police officers, broke into the suite where the celebrity was staying at the Hôtel de Pourtalès, during Fashion Week, tied her up with plastic ties and adhesive tape, and fled with more than six million dollars in jewels.
Six of the robbers were between 60 and 70 years old at the time of trial, having become known in France as les papys braqueurs — "the grandfather robbers". As they had already served time in pre-trial detention, none returned to prison, and they did not appeal the sentence.
In addition to the symbolic compensation for Kardashian and Harouche, the court awarded 109,516 euros to a former receptionist at the same hotel, who said he had been traumatised by the robbery. The receptionist had requested 550,000 euros plus interest, but his lawyer, Mohand Ouidja, nevertheless described the decision as a victory. The court also awarded 50,000 euros to the hotel itself.
"We thank the court and everyone who supported us throughout this process and we now hope to move forward and continue to recover," Kardashian and Harouche concluded in the same statement.
