A minor aged 15 has been remanded in custody on Thursday 18 June for the homicide of an 86-year-old woman that occurred a week earlier near a body of water at Le Grau-du-Roi (Gard). Cécile Gensac, magistrate heading the Nîmes public prosecutor's office, made a statement on this matter. As indicated by franceinfo, the suspect had been arrested on Tuesday and had made confessions during his police custody.
According to the statements made by the young man as reported by the prosecutor, he allegedly took his target by surprise from behind, struck her with blows using an electrical tool of the drill type, then with kicks and punches, before suffocating her. The boy, who was experiencing tensions within his family, had no relationship with this person, whom he allegedly selected at random.
The death of the retired woman was established on 11 June, which triggered a judicial investigation for voluntary homicide. Forensic medical experts observed serious traumatic injuries on the body, revealing the savagery of the attack, according to information from France 3 Occitanie.
