A suspect from North Macedonia confessed to authorities in Crete that he murdered a woman following a quarrel, using a bottle, tape, a knife and a log.

A 43-year-old man from North Macedonia, who faces charges of manslaughter in the death of a 45-year-old woman in Crete, provided investigating authorities with a detailed account of his actions.
According to his account, the woman named Stavroula visited him at his home on 30 May. In his version of events, she took photographs of wardrobes and complained about damage, which provoked his anger. He claimed that she attacked him first, resulting in her falling and sustaining a head injury.
Subsequently, as he recounted, he hit her with a glass bottle. When the woman lost consciousness, he sealed her mouth with tape that he took from a drawer. He thought she had died and left, but later heard her regaining consciousness and asking for help.
At that point, according to his account, he entered the room with a kitchen knife and struck her twice in the heart area. Then, he heard her crying out "help, can anyone hear me?" again and struck her twice on the head with a wooden log.
After the murder, the defendant stated that he took the victim's withdrawal cards and personal code, withdrew cash from a machine in Mournies whilst presenting the incident as theft, and returned to the house to cover up the traces. He tied the dead body, transported it by car to a field where he worked, buried it at approximately 06:00 in the morning and returned to continue cleaning.
The 43-year-old attributed part of the responsibility to cannabis use, saying he had smoked a hashish cigarette that day. Concluding his statement, he asked for forgiveness from the deceased's relatives.
