A 31-year-old died at hospital in Chios this morning after being attacked with a blade by his 51-year-old uncle.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, 11 June 2026. The two men, who belong to the Roma community, were in an open area in the Ichthyoskala region. There an intense altercation broke out between them. The situation escalated and the 51-year-old used a knife against his nephew, fatally wounding him in the abdominal area.
The victim was transported urgently to hospital with serious injuries. Despite medical efforts, he did not survive and died the following morning.
The 51-year-old perpetrator was arrested by local authorities and is being held at the island's security department. The reasons that led to the clash have not been clarified.
