A quarrel between two men at an apartment complex in Rhodes ended in tragedy on Monday, 8 June. A 55-year-old is alleged to have killed his 63-year-old fellow resident during a fierce altercation.

The two men knew each other and cohabited peacefully in the same building. The older man had found shelter there thanks to the help of the younger one. However, personal issues and difficulties that both faced had created tension in their relationship.

On the fatal evening, the 63-year-old is alleged to have persistently harassed the 55-year-old, who was preparing food. The younger man, according to what he claimed, lost his composure. Already holding a sharp object, he used it against the elderly man, striking him in the neck with fatal consequences.

When rescue workers arrived, the victim had already breathed his last. The perpetrator has a history of hospitalisation at a psychiatric clinic on the island. In fact, that very morning he had visited the hospital for a scheduled check-up.
