On Wednesday morning, the Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes Subdivision in Athens conducted a wide-ranging operation across multiple areas of Attica, aimed at dismantling a criminal group involved in drug and weapons trafficking.

The operation involved police officers from the Crime Prevention and Suppression Units (OPKE) and the Special Anti-Terrorism Suppression Unit (EKAM). Simultaneous raids were carried out in Artemida, Thrakomakedones, Ilion and Magoula.

According to reporting by Kathimerini, authorities proceeded with eight detentions, including the man alleged to have led the gang. The organisation appears to have been operating for at least the past eight months.

During searches, police officers located and seized quantities of cocaine as well as ammunition. Those arrested were taken to police stations for further interrogation.
