Among the items under examination are a knife found hidden inside a flower pot, an air rifle that may have been used to shoot the young man, clothing with traces of blood, fingerprints and biological material. Simultaneously, the prosecution authorities are awaiting the final report from the forensic pathologists who examined the bodies of the 54-year-old woman and her 26-year-old child, so that the precise time of their death and the circumstances under which they were murdered can be determined.
The 65-year-old partner of the woman, an Italian citizen, remains in custody at the Aigion Security Department. Officers brought him in on the charge of possession of an illegal weapon, as they found an air rifle inside the house. He continues to deny any connection to the crime.
According to the forensic pathologist's initial findings, the perpetrator initially attacked the 26-year-old, who was studying at postgraduate level in Germany. He shot him in the head with an air rifle whilst he was in his bed and subsequently stabbed him repeatedly. His mother was found dead at the entrance to the residence with defensive wounds from a blade. It is estimated that she became aware of the attack on her child and attempted to defend him.
The Italian claims that he became aware of the incident at around 11:30 in the morning and immediately notified a resident of the neighbourhood. He maintains that he discovered the two bodies inside the house, denying any involvement.
