Double murder in Aigio: Italian partner found the victims but denies any involvement
A 54-year-old woman and her 26-year-old son were found dead inside their home in Longos, Aigio, shocking the local community. The crime was committed in the early hours of Tuesday (09.06.2026).
The unfortunate mother sustained multiple stab wounds to the chest and abdominal area, as well as defensive wounds. The young man had been shot in the head with a flare gun.
On the morning of the same day, the 65-year-old partner of the woman, an Italian national, informed an acquaintance and they entered the house together. The Italian claims he discovered the bodies and that he is innocent.
Police officers who arrived first at the scene established that the external doors showed no signs of forced entry. Most areas of the house were in normal condition, except for the bedroom where the bodies were found. There were signs of disturbance there, with objects scattered on the floor.
The authorities estimate that the murder took place at approximately 3:00 in the morning. This means the perpetrator had sufficient time to attempt to cover his tracks before the authorities were notified.
The police are searching for the woman's mobile telephone. The defence of the 65-year-old maintains it was found destroyed; however, police located only a small portion of it hidden in a bookcase.
The accused requested and was granted a postponement to give his statement. Investigations are continuing to clarify the exact circumstances of the crime.
