The Mixed Juror Court of Pyrgos imposed two life sentences on a young man aged 23 for the murder of two people in Aegio in April 2025. The victims were his uncle and a close friend of his uncle.

The convicted man had a history of psychiatric problems and multiple admissions to psychiatric units. During his testimony in court, he argued that he was attacked by the victims and that he reacted in self-defence.

The judges were not persuaded by his claims. They rejected the defence's arguments for reduced culpability and found him guilty unanimously. The verdict also highlighted serious omissions that led to the crime.
