Murder in Drama: Seven stab wounds to the back and heart – what the forensic examination revealed
A 45-year-old police officer received seven stab wounds from her husband in Drama. Her uncle reveals that she had been threatened with a gun two weeks before.
Forensic examination: knife over 10cm long, one wound pierced the heart
According to sigmalive.com, the forensic examination sheds further light on the case of the murder of the 45-year-old police officer in Drama. The woman sustained a total of seven stab wounds, mainly to the back and sides. One of these pierced the heart, whilst the remaining wounds caused injuries to the lungs and neighbouring tissues.
The knife used by the 50-year-old perpetrator was over 10 centimetres in length. The same examination produced no findings pointing to another metal object, nor any signs of a struggle between the two. The perpetrator had a wound on his left temple. Sedative tablets, antidepressants and panic attack medication were found in the couple's home, whilst additional answers are expected from a toxicology examination.
It is recalled that colleagues of the police officer found the 45-year-old half-naked in bed, in a basement room, with the knife beside her.
"He stabbed her while she was asleep" – testimony from her uncle
The victim's uncle, Antigoni, stated that "he stabbed her whilst she was asleep". According to him, two weeks before the murder, the 50-year-old perpetrator "attacked my niece whilst she was asleep and threatened her with a loaded gun. My niece ran away quickly to escape and went to her sister's". He added that "she should have gone to the police, to the service" and called on all women victims of domestic violence to report the perpetrators.
Psychologist and pharmaceutical treatment under investigation
Meanwhile, the authorities in Drama are investigating the meetings the perpetrator had with a private psychologist. The spokesperson for ELAS, Konstantia Dimoglidou, stated that "it emerges that the couple's marriage was in the process of being dissolved and the colleague could not bear the separation and sought help". She clarified that the police officer "was never referred to a psychologist by his service", whilst it is being investigated whether he was receiving pharmaceutical treatment from the private psychologist.
"He had never been given leave, he was functioning in the service, they had not reported any tension at home, we have not been informed of any incident of tension or abuse", Ms Dimoglidou added.
The 50-year-old police officer, estranged husband of the victim, took his own life after the murder using his service weapon.
