Exarcheia: Multiple scenarios under investigation in 35-year-old foreigner's murder

The Hellenic Police is investigating various possible theories regarding the crime that occurred in Exarcheia, with a 35-year-old man from Turkey as the victim. The unfortunate man had sought protection in Greece and had been residing in the country for the past two years.

The initial assessment by police points to a settling of scores between criminal groups. However, investigators do not rule out the possibility that the 35-year-old had outstanding cases in his home country and that the perpetrators located him in Athens.

One practical difficulty facing the prosecution authorities is that the address which the victim had registered does not correspond with reality. For this reason, police are attempting to find out exactly where he was living. At the same time, they have been in contact with the relevant services of the neighbouring country to check whether he had problems with the justice system or pending matters.

The evidence collected from the crime scene is currently under examination in the forensic laboratories, with the aim of identifying those responsible and clarifying the case.
