Six years after the attack that marked her, Ioanna Paliosprrou revealed how she supports herself today. According to Newsit.gr, the woman who was attacked with vitriol on 20 May 2020 at the entrance of her workplace in Kallithea, answered her followers via Instagram Q&A on Wednesday, 8 July.
"I know you don't understand it and I confuse you because I don't let it show with my constant smile, but… because of my disability, therefore my work incapacity, I am a disabled pensioner," she wrote.
The attack with caustic acid had caused serious damage to her face. Approximately 18 months later, Paliosprrou appeared in court for the first time wearing a special mask, a white hat and bandages on her hands, whilst public expressions of support accompanied her throughout the trial.
The perpetrator was found guilty of attempted manslaughter and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment. Paliosprrou has been undergoing treatment for years both in Greece and abroad, with the aim of restoring her health.
Despite the multiple and time-consuming procedures, she does not allow herself to succumb to difficulties. She follows her doctors' instructions and makes sure to engage in activities that bring her satisfaction, prioritising her mental peace.
