The Deputy Prosecutor of Thessaloniki ordered criminal prosecution against seven individuals for the death of a 19-year-old in an accident at Peukochori amusement park in Chalkidiki. The seven are charged with manslaughter by negligence through omission.
The group of prosecuted individuals includes people connected to local government, such as a former mayor and former deputy mayors, as well as engineers.
The case originated from a complaint filed by the father of the deceased young man, who attributed responsibility to local officials and civil engineers. Initially the case file had been closed, however the Deputy Prosecutor requested a supplementary investigation. The case file was recently returned and the Prosecutor ordered that proceedings be initiated.
