On the island of Chios, in the early hours between Wednesday and Thursday (10–11 June), a fatal incident erupted near the fish market. A 51-year-old man is alleged to have attacked his nephew, who was 31 years old, using a sharp object.
The victim was immediately transferred to the local medical facility, where doctors attempted to save him through surgery. Unfortunately, his injuries proved fatal and the young man succumbed.
The alleged perpetrator was arrested yesterday, following the victim's death. A case file was filed against him for premeditated homicide and for violation of weapons provisions.
During the investigation, police officers located and seized the weapon that is alleged to have been used in the attack, a blade 16.5 centimetres in length.
