Chios: 51-year-old arrested for manslaughter following altercation
A 51-year-old was arrested on Chios following a quarrel that resulted in the death of a 31-year-old from stab wounds.

On Chios, a man aged 51 was taken into custody on Thursday, facing charges of wilful murder and violation of weapons provisions.
The incident took place during the night between Wednesday and Thursday, in early June, in the town centre. According to the police investigation, following an intense verbal dispute between the suspect and a man aged 31, the older man used a sharp implement together with physical assault, striking the other in the abdomen area.
The victim was transported urgently to the hospital on the island. There, doctors performed surgery on him, however it was not possible to save his life and he died the following afternoon.
The local prosecuting authorities were immediately mobilised, with the assistance of specialised units of the Greek police. During the investigation, a knife measuring 16.5 cm was located and seized as evidence.
The 51-year-old was brought before the judicial authorities.
