Large-scale police operation in Attica: drugs and weapons network dismantled
Eight people are in the hands of the prosecuting authorities, among them the alleged leader of a criminal organisation, following a large-scale police operation carried out in areas of Attica, according to Athens Voice.
The operation began early on the morning of Wednesday, 10 June, with the participation of officers from the Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes Directorate of Athens, reinforced by forces from the OPPE and EKAM. The aim was to dismantle a network that is believed to have been active at least since December 2025 in the illegal trafficking of psychotropic substances and weapons.
During the searches, police officers located and seized significant quantities of drugs, as well as firearms. The findings are being sent for laboratory analysis, whilst the authorities continue investigations at different locations in Attica to locate possible associates or additional evidence.
The case is characterised by the authorities as particularly serious, given the organised nature of the criminal activity and its connection to illegal arms trafficking. The arrested individuals are expected to be brought before the prosecuting authorities so that appropriate charges can be brought.
