Police officers from the D.I.A.S. unit arrested a 39-year-old foreign national in Metaxourgeio for manufacturing and trafficking narcotics, as well as disobedience.

A 39-year-old foreign national was arrested by police officers from the D.I.A.S./GADA unit, accused of violations of narcotic substance legislation and disobedience.
The operation was set up following information that reached the Immediate Action Division, according to which the suspect was active in the production and trafficking of narcotics, using an apartment in the Metaxourgeio area as a base.
On Tuesday afternoon, police officers located the man on the street and requested that he submit to a search. The 39-year-old initially attempted to escape, but was immobilised. During the search that followed, 60 pharmaceutical tablets and 650 euros in cash were found in his possession.
Subsequently, police officers from the Athens Crime Investigation and Detection Directorate conducted a lawful search of the apartment-hideout. There they located and seized additional quantities of narcotic substances and equipment that was used for their manufacture and adulteration.
The arrested man was taken before the prosecutor, whilst the authorities are investigating whether the 39-year-old had accomplices and the full extent of his criminal activity.
