Shocking details of the murder of a 45-year-old woman in Chania, Crete, have been revealed following the confession of her 43-year-old tenant.
The perpetrator reportedly initiated the attack using a glass bottle, causing the victim to lose consciousness and collapse. The man then stabbed her twice in the chest area. When the woman began to scream, the murderer covered her mouth and subsequently struck her head with a piece of wood, completing the crime.
Following the murder, the 43-year-old, who is from North Macedonia, immobilised the body by binding the limbs with plastic ties and placing it inside a plastic bag. He then transported it by his vehicle a distance of five kilometres from the house and buried it in a field in the Vatolakka area.
The corpse was located by the authorities in an advanced state of decomposition. The victim was bound at the hands and feet, had tape around her mouth, and bore two stab wounds to the chest.
The alleged murderer claimed that the reason for the crime was a disagreement he had with Stavroula regarding the property, as she had made remarks to him about it. However, the victim's brother disputes this account, believing that his sister went to check the house and may have discovered something illegal.
The 43-year-old disappeared for approximately 24 hours after realising that the authorities' investigation was closing in on him. He abandoned his car and mobile phone and hid in a mountainous location until he was eventually located by police. He had initially been arrested in connection with a cannabis cultivation case, whilst the woman's disappearance was being investigated in parallel.
