Police have arrested the mother of a seven-month-old infant who is being treated at Karamandeio Children's Hospital with serious injuries. The child was admitted with a fractured femur and head trauma, raising suspicions of child abuse.

The mother of a seven-month-old infant is in the hands of prosecuting authorities. The child is being treated at Karamandeio Children's Hospital in Patras with serious injuries. The woman was arrested late on the evening of Sunday, 21 June, on a charge of endangering a minor.
According to reporting by Newsbeast, the infant was taken to hospital on Saturday, 20 June, with a fractured femur and injuries to the head. The doctors who examined the child immediately informed the police, as the findings raised serious concerns about possible abuse.
The child's mother, aged approximately 19 years, told authorities that the infant fell from the cot whilst she was preparing milk for her other child. However, the doctors closely monitoring the child's condition believe that the injuries cannot be explained by a simple fall.
The infant remains under medical supervision and the development of its health is being continuously monitored by nursing staff. At the same time, the required forensic procedures have been set in motion, which are expected to shed light on the exact causes of the injuries.
The case is being investigated by the Patras police authorities, whilst the mother is expected to be brought before the judicial authorities to give her account.
