64-year-old arrested in Euboea for negligent fire-starting
Fire service authorities proceeded with the arrest of a 64-year-old man in Euboea, who is accused of negligent fire-starting. The incident is added to a series of similar cases being investigated during the fire prevention period.
According to information presented by Proto Thema, from the beginning of 2026 until 11 June, a total of 414 administrative fines have been imposed. The total amount charged amounts to €410,631.395. At the same time, the competent authorities have made 82 arrests of suspects.
Fire service inspections continue with rigour across the entire country. The prevention and suppression of fires constitute a priority for the authorities, particularly during the summer months.
