A 26-year-old driver who was travelling at 128 kilometres per hour on a Pefka road with a speed limit of 50 kilometres has been convicted by the Thessaloniki magistrates' court to 20 months imprisonment and a fine of €2,680.

A 26-year-old driver who had been apprehended driving at a speed of 128 kilometres per hour on a Pefka road in Thessaloniki, where the speed limit is 50 kilometres, was referred to the Magistrates' Court of First Instance.
The prosecuting authority brought charges for dangerous driving, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without a valid licence, and failure to comply with a traffic officer's signal. The young driver appeared before the magistrates' court, which imposed a prison sentence of 20 months, with the option of paying a commutation fee of €10 per day.
The defendant filed an appeal and was released pending trial at a second level. In parallel, the Traffic Police imposed a fine of €2,680 for the violations that were found.
