School authorities identified 4,929 cheating attempts during the June 2026 session of the Moroccan regional baccalauréat. This figure represents a 167 per cent increase compared to the previous session.
The examination brought together 570,696 participants in total. The vast majority, at 82.2 per cent, came from schools, whilst 17.8 per cent were individually registered candidates. Participation rates showed a marked gap: 97.7 per cent among supervised students compared with only 64.1 per cent among independent candidates, according to Medias24.
To curb these irregularities, the authorities equipped examination rooms with 2,000 electronic anti-cheating detectors. A training programme furthermore enabled the preparation of 4,014 educational staff and administrators to use these technologies.
This year, the administration also pushed digitalisation of the examination process further. Answer sheets now benefit from computerised coding, and certificates as well as grade reports are produced in a secure digital format. The stated objective is to strengthen the reliability of the qualification and to improve supervision of the examinations.
Marking of scripts is already underway in specialised centres of the various regional academies, mobilising approximately 21,150 markers. The announcement of results is expected following the juries scheduled for 9 July.
