Darmanin thanks Morocco following arrest of 16 suspects for organised crime
The French Minister of Justice has commended the apprehension of 16 individuals suspected of drug trafficking, murder and money laundering. Extradition requests have been launched.

Gérald Darmanin, French Minister of Justice, on Tuesday extended his thanks to Moroccan authorities following the apprehension of 16 individuals suspected of serious offences. Google News MA reports that the minister described the operation as the fruit of "strengthened collaboration" between Paris and Rabat.
The suspects are involved in several types of criminality: organised drug trafficking, murder, fraud and money laundering. Darmanin referred to "various exchanges" between the two countries that made it possible to achieve this joint operation.
"Extradition requests for French nationals are being launched, and formal reports against dual nationals, who cannot be extradited, have been filed so that they may be prosecuted and tried by Moroccan authorities," he stated.
The French minister also directed a message of recognition to Moroccan services: "Thank you, once again, to the Moroccan authorities for this judicial cooperation against organised crime, and for the security of our two countries in the context of this major operation."
This operation is part of a series of joint actions carried out over recent months. The Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) has on several occasions proceeded with the arrest of suspects targeted by international arrest warrants in cases related to drug trafficking, money laundering and transnational organised crime networks.
The legal framework for this cooperation is based on bilateral judicial cooperation conventions, which govern extradition procedures for foreign nationals as well as the official report mechanism applicable to dual nationals.
