Incident at "Avram Iancu" School in Oradea: student accused of assault on classmate

Google News RO — Crime (ro) reports that an internal inquiry has been opened at the "Avram Iancu" Border Police Agent Training School in Oradea following an incident that occurred on 22 August, within the school premises, outside school hours.

According to sources cited by the local press, a student allegedly entered the institution whilst intoxicated and attempted to forcibly kiss a female classmate, against her will. During the altercation, the young woman allegedly suffered scratches and bruises on her arms and in the neck area.

The school administration reported the incident to police after being informed of what had occurred, and officers attended the educational facility for verification. The young woman did not, however, file a criminal complaint regarding the incident.

According to legal procedures, in cases of assault or other acts of violence, the conducting of investigations is conditional, in certain circumstances, on the filing of a formal complaint by the victim. In the absence of such action, police have not, at least for the time being, launched a criminal investigation.

The administration of the institution decided to examine the situation through administrative channels and established a commission tasked with determining the exact circumstances in which the incident occurred.

"The administration of the educational institution was informed, in the course of Monday, regarding an incident that would have occurred outside school hours and in which two students of the school were allegedly involved," said principal agent Mădălina Rați, the school's spokesperson, on Friday.

The school's representative clarified that, following the completion of the verification process, the commission's conclusions will be presented to the competent structures within the institution, for the determination of the necessary measures.

"The school treats with maximum seriousness any situation that could affect the safety, integrity and dignity of students and cooperates with the competent institutions for the complete clarification of the circumstances in which the facts occurred," Mădălina Rați added.
