Two police officers attacked in central Brașov: fractured nose and forehead wound, seven detained
Two police officers were assaulted whilst attempting to immobilise several suspects in the historic centre of Brașov. Seven persons were taken for questioning at the headquarters of Brașov County Police Inspectorate.

Two police officers were attacked in the street in the historic centre of Brașov whilst attempting to immobilise several suspects, according to Jurnalul.ro. One of the police officers suffered a fractured nose and was transported to hospital, whilst the other received a blow that caused a wound to his forehead.
The incident began in the area near Brașov Maternity Hospital, where several persons got into an argument. A security guard observed the conflict and called the emergency number 112. Upon the arrival of law enforcement, the assailants attempted to flee.
Some of the suspects were intercepted in traffic, in the area of the historic centre, where the situation escalated rapidly. Images captured during the incident show how a man resisted immobilisation and struck one of the officers, and a second young man intervened in the conflict before being stopped by another person present at the scene.
"He threw the first one down there, and the other one here, he made blood come out and got up. Well I don't know, I woke up, screaming, screaming," a witness told Observator.
The entire altercation apparently lasted several dozen minutes. The conflict began in the area behind Șchei Gate and subsequently spread towards the centre of the city.
Two of the suspects fled on foot and hid in the attic of a house. The others attempted to escape in a white van. All were located shortly and brought to police headquarters.
"A gendarme was on a ladder, probably in a courtyard behind the house. I saw several gendarmes with shields, the riot police came too," another witness stated.
Following the confrontation, one police officer suffered a nasal fracture, the other a wound to the forehead, and one of the suspects was also injured.
Seven persons detained for questioning
All seven persons involved in the incident were transported to the headquarters of Brașov County Police Inspectorate.
"At this moment, all the aggressive persons are at the police unit headquarters for questioning and to determine the legal measures accordingly," stated Chief Inspector Daniel Zontea, spokesperson for Brașov County Police Inspectorate.
Investigators are continuing their investigation to establish precisely the circumstances in which the incident occurred and the degree of responsibility of each person involved.
