Peruvian and Danish citizen arrested for drug trafficking at guesthouse in Boșorod, Hunedoara
Two men, a Peruvian and a Dane, have been arrested on remand after police discovered over 6.6 litres of liquid substance containing drugs at a guesthouse in Boșorod.

Google News RO — Crime (ro) reports that two foreign nationals have been arrested on remand and a Romanian national has been placed under judicial supervision in a case of international and domestic trafficking of high-risk drugs, following a flagrant operation at a guesthouse in Boșorod locality, Hunedoara county.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police, officers from the Organised Crime Combat Brigade Alba Iulia — Hunedoara Organised Crime Combat Service acted together with prosecutors from DIICOT — Hunedoara Territorial Office to document the criminal activity of the three individuals.
Drugs brought into Romania on 27 August
According to investigators, on 27 August 2026, the two men — a Peruvian national and a Danish national — allegedly brought high-risk drugs into Romania. The context was an event organised by the Romanian woman detained, intended for people interested in Peruvian Amazonian rituals.
The event was promoted online as an experience of "reconnecting with self". At the ceremonies, shamans and other individuals were said to be present, and participants were recruited through interviews organised during the summer of this year. Access was granted exclusively on the basis of recommendation, according to investigators.
Participation in the event cost 590 or 650 euros per person, the amounts including, according to prosecutors, the ceremonies, accommodation and meals.
Search on 28 August: 6.6 litres of substance with mescaline, hallucinogenic mushrooms and utensils
On 28 August, police carried out a search at the guesthouse in Boșorod where the event was being organised. Following the inspection, the following were discovered and seized:
- over 6.6 litres of liquid substance containing mescaline;
- multiple containers with hallucinogenic mushrooms (Psilocin and Psilocybin);
- various vessels and sachets with liquid and plant substances, undergoing expert examination;
- precision scales and devices intended for consumption through snorting and inhalation.
"At the moment police entered the interior of the guesthouse, the 'teas' containing high-risk drugs were already prepared for consumption in its kitchen," the police statement notes.
Investigators clarified that the substances were intended to be consumed in the form of preparations known by the names Ayahuasca and San Pedro. Ayahuasca contains DMT, and the San Pedro cactus contains mescaline, both classified as high-risk drugs under current legislation.
Space specially arranged for rituals
In the room intended for rituals, police found 11 mattresses, containers for vomiting after consumption of the preparations, candles and other decorative objects. The space had been specially arranged for the conduct of these activities, according to investigators.
Detention on 29 August, remand arrest on 30 August
On 29 August, DIICOT prosecutors in Hunedoara ordered the detention of the three individuals. One day later, the judge for rights and freedoms at Hunedoara Tribunal ordered the remand arrest of the Peruvian national and the Danish national respectively, and placed the Romanian national under judicial supervision.
The operation received support from gendarmes from the Hunedoara County Gendarmerie Inspectorate.
