DIICOT halts drug ceremony in Hunedoara: two foreign nationals arrested, hundreds of euros per participant
DIICOT prosecutors conducted a raid on a guesthouse in Boșorod, Hunedoara county, where a ritual with Ayahuasca and mescaline was being organised. Two foreign nationals were placed under preventive arrest, and a Romanian woman was placed under judicial supervision.

Google News RO — Crime (ro) reports that DIICOT prosecutors ended a so-called "spiritual ceremony" organised at a guesthouse in Boșorod, Hunedoara county, where participants — selected on the basis of recommendation — paid between 590 and 650 euros to "reconnect with themselves".
The event, named "Amazon Weekend" and promoted on social media, was organised by a Romanian woman in collaboration with a Peruvian citizen and a Danish citizen. The price included so-called ceremonies with shamans brought from Peru, accommodation and meals.
High-risk drugs prepared for consumption
Last Friday, police and anti-drug prosecutors carried out a search at the guesthouse. At the moment investigators entered, "herbal teas" with high-risk drugs were already being prepared in the kitchen. In the room dedicated to rituals — equipped with 11 mattresses, candles and various decorative objects — containers intended for vomiting after consumption were found.
According to the DIICOT press release, investigators confiscated over 6.6 litres of liquid substance containing mescaline, containers with hallucinogenic mushrooms (psilocin and psilocybin), various vessels and envelopes with substances undergoing expert examination, precision scales, as well as devices intended for consumption via sniffing and inhalation.
"The investigations revealed that during the 'rituals' high-risk drugs were to be distributed and consumed, provided by 'shamans', in the form of Ayahuasca, which contains DMT – a high-risk drug, and 'San Pedro' – the popular name for a cactus of the species Echinopsis pachanoi, which contains mescaline – a psychedelic substance that constitutes a high-risk drug", the prosecutors' press release states.
Recruitment through interviews and illegal introduction of drugs into the country
Participants in the event had been recruited following interviews organised in the summer of this year, access to interviews being granted exclusively on the basis of recommendation. The DIICOT investigation shows that on 27 August, the two foreign nationals introduced high-risk drugs into Romania.
On Sunday, the judge of rights and freedoms at Hunedoara County Court ordered the preventive arrest of the Peruvian citizen and the Danish citizen. The Romanian woman involved in organising the event was placed under judicial supervision.
