The Interior Ministry reported an intensive August, with the seizure of nearly 2 tonnes of drugs and repeated interventions for drones washed ashore at the seaside.

Google News RO — Crime (ro) reports that the Interior Ministry declared August to be one of the most active months of the year, with tens of thousands of police officers, gendarmes, border police and firefighters deployed in the field.
The main challenges of the month were repeated interventions concerning drones washed ashore at the seaside or which fell on national territory, as well as the management of multiple forest fires in the western part of the country, according to an Interior Ministry statement.
Although military drones represent a threat of a military nature, Interior Ministry structures acted in cooperation with the Romanian Intelligence Service, the National Defence Ministry and local authorities to protect citizens and communities. The ministry's forces also intervened to rescue sailors who were shipwrecked following the sinking of a commercial vessel.
The most significant result of the month was in combating drug trafficking: the anti-drugs structures of the Romanian Police, in cooperation with international partners, dismantled an important network of traffickers and seized nearly 2 tonnes of drugs of risk and high risk.
Romanian firefighters managed the fires in the western part of the country simultaneously and participated in external missions in France, Greece and Serbia. Gendarmes and police officers ensured the safe organisation of dozens of festivals with the participation of millions of citizens, and the Border Police maintained a secure border in the face of civil threats.
The Interior Minister expressed gratitude and congratulations to all structures involved in the operations in August.
