Man from Celje loses €43,000 in online car purchase
A man from the Celje area was purchasing a car online from a German vehicle seller. He received a contract and invoice for €43,000, which he paid. Only later did he discover that an unknown person had breached the company's computer system and sent him a forged contract and a different transaction account, to which he had transferred the money.
Police officers from the Celje police station dealt with another online fraud on Friday. In this case, an unknown person contacted a citizen and persuaded him to download an application on his mobile phone. The person claimed he would transfer money earned from cryptocurrency trading through the application. The perpetrator then stole approximately €21,000 from the victim's bank account.
Both cases are currently under investigation.
