On Tuesday, a large-scale police operation took place in the Moravče area. The Ljubljana Police Directorate later announced that a man suspected of a serious violent offence was found dead inside a building. Members of a specialist unit were also present at the scene.

Officers stressed that there was no further danger to surrounding residents. During the operation, residents were advised to remain indoors, lock their entrances and follow instructions from the relevant authorities. They no longer need to avoid the area.

According to police representatives, the accused did not die as a result of the use of force by police officers. According to media reports from N1, specialist units first sent unmanned drones into the building, which showed that the man had already committed suicide. For this reason, it was not necessary to use weapons or other coercive measures.

Further details of the incident are still being gathered. The police will publish more information once the investigation is complete.

Media reports suggest the incident involved domestic violence. According to reports that official authorities have not yet confirmed, the suspected man, who is said to be approximately forty years old and subject to a restraining order, is alleged to have shot his former partner in front of the house. He then reportedly fled into the building, where he remained until police arrived.

The woman was taken to Ljubljana University Medical Centre. According to unofficial reports, she survived the attack.
