A 25-year-old security guard was fatally shot outside a supermarket in Non Pareil, East Coast Demerara, on Wednesday night. Two suspects fled westward on a motorcycle.

A 25-year-old security guard was shot and killed outside a Chinese supermarket in Non Pareil, East Coast Demerara, on Wednesday night, newsroom.gy reports. The victim has been identified as Keion Wilman of Dazzell Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara.

Wilman was employed by a private security firm and was on duty at the O-Guo Chinese Supermarket when the attack occurred at approximately 21:25 hrs.

According to newsroom.gy, two men arrived at the location on a motorcycle. The pillion rider dismounted and opened fire on Wilman with a handgun. After the shooting, he returned to the motorcycle and fled westward along the Railway Embankment together with the driver.

Wilman was rushed to the Enmore Regional Hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Police recovered his 12-gauge shotgun at the scene, which contained four live cartridges.

Investigations are ongoing and efforts are being made to locate the two suspects.
