A 37-year-old man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder following a road incident on Rousay Drive, Aberdeen, scotsman.com reports.

Police received a call at around 6pm on Friday after a white BMW struck a cyclist on the street. The victim, a 19-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment. Officers closed the road for a period to allow inquiries to take place.

The accused is due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday 28 September.

Sergeant Scott Cooper said officers were continuing to carry out enquiries and appealed for witnesses to come forward. "We are appealing to anyone who was in the area around this time to contact us with any information," Cooper said. "In addition, any witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage is asked to come forward as this may be able to assist."
