Murder probe launched after e-bike rider, 24, killed in Kensington moped collision

A murder investigation has been launched after a 24-year-old e-bike rider was fatally wounded in a collision with a moped in Kensington, west London, at 1am on Friday, the Metropolitan Police confirmed.

Officers responding to reports of a seriously injured man found him in North Pole Road approximately 20 minutes after the crash. The London Ambulance Service attended, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Met believes the moped was actively pursuing the e-bike in the moments before the collision, The Independent reports.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, who is leading the investigation, said: "Our thoughts are with the victim's family at what is a very difficult time. We have launched a full investigation and are working hard to get answers and establish exactly what happened."

John added that officers are pursuing several lines of inquiry, including efforts to identify and trace the moped rider, who has not yet been located. "We're urging anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the e-bike or the moped to get in touch with us as soon as possible," he said.

The Met is appealing for witnesses to both the collision and the events that preceded it.
