The family of Leanne Park, found dead at an address in Parkgate, Darlington on Wednesday, have described her as kind-hearted and selfless. bbc.co.uk reports that Durham Constabulary has launched a murder investigation, with a 44-year-old man remaining in custody on suspicion of murder.

A second man, aged 27, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, has since been released on bail, the force confirmed.

In a statement, Park's family said: "Leanne was loved by everyone and would do anything for anyone. She was the life and soul of the party and loved to dance. We love her so much and miss her more than words can describe. Her death has ripped the heart out of our family."

They also described her as "the best mam, nana, daughter and friend we could wish for."

Durham Constabulary said specialist crime scene investigators were continuing to examine the scene. A cordon remains in place and is expected to stay for some time while inquiries continue.

The force said its investigation remained ongoing and appealed to anyone with information to contact them directly.
