A Kentucky man who claimed a $167 million Powerball prize last year has been arrested for the fifth time since his windfall, kptv.com reports.

James Farthing, 51, was taken into custody early Sunday morning in the parking lot of a Walmart in Georgetown, Kentucky. Officers had been called after a witness spotted a white Ford Mustang with a temporary tag stopped in the middle of an intersection before it pulled into the Walmart lot and parked beside an EV charging station.

When officers approached the vehicle, they found it still running. Farthing was asleep in the passenger seat. He woke only after officers knocked on the window for several minutes and appeared to be intoxicated, according to the arrest citation. Farthing told officers that a woman had driven him there and dropped him off. He was charged with public intoxication.

Sunday's arrest was the latest in a string of run-ins with law enforcement since Farthing collected the multimillion-dollar jackpot. In April 2025, he was arrested in Florida on misdemeanor charges of battery and resisting an officer, to which he later pleaded guilty.

In February of this year, he faced an intimidation charge in Scott County. A month later, in March, he was arrested on charges that included burglary. On July 27, he was arrested again on domestic violence charges.

The Sunday arrest in Georgetown marks the fifth time Farthing has been taken into custody since becoming a lottery multimillionaire.
