Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown will accept a plea deal in his second-degree attempted murder case, his attorney Mark Eiglarsh told TMZ Sports, as reported by espn.com. The agreement, which prosecutors offered ahead of a scheduled Miami-Dade courthouse appearance next week, will dramatically reduce the charge and replace a potential 20-year mandatory minimum prison sentence with probation.

The felony case stems from a May 2025 incident at an Adin Ross boxing event in Miami. Prosecutors alleged that Brown got into a physical altercation with a former acquaintance, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, which began with punches before escalating. Authorities claimed Brown took a firearm from a security guard and pursued Nantambu. An arrest warrant was issued in June 2025, at which point Brown was in Dubai. He was extradited and returned to Florida in November.

Brown had pleaded not guilty and consistently maintained he was acting in self-defence on the night in question.

"This was not an easy decision," Eiglarsh told TMZ Sports. "Antonio believes in his innocence. He believes strongly in his Stand Your Ground defense, and he believes he would ultimately prevail at trial. But when prosecutors put an offer on the table that transforms a potential decades-long prison sentence into a significantly reduced charge and probation, there was simply no way he could reasonably turn it down."

Nantambu, the alleged victim, also addressed the outcome. Speaking to TMZ Sports alongside his attorney Richard Cooper, Nantambu said that once he chose to forgive Brown, prosecutors had little option but to reach an agreement with the former All-Pro receiver.

Brown's attorney was explicit on one point: the deal does not constitute an admission of guilt. The formal hearing to make the agreement official is scheduled for 30 September.
