An armed woman was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday, September 22, after barricading herself inside a home in Georgetown, Idaho, following a domestic violence investigation, kvnutalk.com reports.

Bear Lake County Sheriff's Office deputies were initially dispatched to the 1100 block of Georgetown Canyon Road in response to reports of a domestic disturbance. During their investigation at the scene, officers established probable cause for felony battery.

When deputies attempted to make contact with the suspect, she refused to comply and barricaded herself inside the residence. Authorities determined she was believed to be armed and had direct access to numerous firearms from within the building.

Due to the elevated safety risk, the Southeast Idaho Special Tactics and Response Team was activated and deployed to the home. The woman was subsequently taken into custody without further incident following the tactical response.

She was transported to the Caribou County Jail after her arrest.

The Bear Lake County Sheriff's Office acknowledged the Montpelier Police Department, Soda Springs Police Department, and Caribou County Sheriff's Office for their assistance during the incident.

Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
