Kingston Man Surrenders on Attempted Rape Charges Months After Alleged Assault

Brandon Rivera, 29, of Kingston, New York, has been charged with second-degree attempted rape and related offences following a sex crime investigation, news10.com reports.

According to Kingston Police, Rivera allegedly attempted to sexually assault a person incapable of giving consent at a Kingston property on April 22. A third individual present at the scene intervened, preventing the incident from escalating further.

Detectives conducted a subsequent investigation, and Kingston City Court issued an arrest warrant on May 29. Arrangements were made for Rivera to surrender voluntarily, and he turned himself in to law enforcement on September 16.

In addition to the attempted rape charge, Rivera faces counts of endangering the welfare of a disabled person and sexual contact with a person unable to consent. He was arraigned in Kingston City Court, with further proceedings expected to be transferred to Ulster County Court.
